EC at Kreuth: First Gorounds in Cutting: fine cattle – fine footing – great rides!

European Championship of American Quarter Horses in Kreuth
Today the 19th European Championship of American Quarter Horses started in Kreuth with the first go rounds in cutting and cowhorse. The Showmanagement with Renate Gruber and Rainer Maierhofer had decided on having the gorounds in cutting in the ‚Veranstaltungshalle’, a beautiful indoor arena right beside the big Ostbayernhalle. A considerable number of visitors watched the cuttings there. Good footing and fine cattle („the best bunch of cattle I’ve seen since I watch this EC,“ said AQHA Director of International Affairs David Avery) provided a great basis for good rides, and there were quite a few of this today! Kiss My Cat and Jürgen Döring laid a solid basis today winning the Amateur Cutting with both judges and winning the Senior Cutting with judge Patti Carter and placing second with Casey Devitt, who saw Roosters Dream and Gerold Dautzenberg (AUT) on first place. Gerold Dautzenberg rode his new horse, the 8-year-old remarkable Peppys Lil Ricochet to second place with both judges. Another very successful competitor here was Ute Holm who rode Borregos Sure Shot to second place in Senior Cutting with Patti Carter and Sherees Doll on third place with both judges – although still suffering from a broken rib.
A great start fort he Czech Republic in Junior Cutting: Elans Magic and Karel Spacil won the first Go with judge Patti Carter and placed second with Casey Devitt, who saw So Thirsty and Arno Gorgasser on first place.
The second go round of the cutting classes will start tomorrow at 9 a.m. The European Championship will continue until Sunday, August 24. So far, almost 400 horses have been nominated for Europe’s premier Quarter Horse event. „I’m very, very much impressed of the way the show management handles this show,” David Avery sais today. “We’ve got beautiful prizes, and the ribbon presentations are great. And just look at the visitors of the cutting – a good idea to organize the cuttings in the Veranstaltungshalle!
Thid will be another great EC, I’m sure. We’ve glad to have a team of good judges. I liked the Cuttings very much, especially the Junior Open today. And the halter shows are equally strong.”
