Only four more weeks until the beginning of the 2009 Celebration at Kreuth. The event which is scheduled for the Bavarian Summer Show from July 8 to 12, 2009 celebrates the disciplines Western Pleasure, Hunter under Saddle and -for the first time - Longe Line.
Now two more sponsors announced their support: renowned photographer Art & Light and the Italian Quarter Horse Association (AIQH). Art & Light will sponsor a saddle for the Hunter Celebration Champion. The AIQH will sponsor 2 free box stalls at the EUR 10,000 Mario Palma Futurity in October for the 2 best non-Italian horses of the Pleasure Celebration.
The Mario Palma All-Around Futurity is one of the best paying futurities for 3 year old Quarter Horses in Europe. There are 10.000 Euro of prize money paid out to the best 3 horses - 5.000 Euro for the first, 3.000 for the second and 2.000 Euro for the third placed horse.
The horses have to compete in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle and Trail (with a pattern made for green horses). The results in the single classes are added up, and the best horse in the all-around is the winner.
This spectacular futurity is made possible through Arnhild Kroeger and in memory of her husband Mario Palma.
Arnhild wants to reinforce the breeding of all-around horses and want to fight genetic defects. This is the reason why only horses who test negative for HYPP, HERDA, GBED and PSSM are elegible. The test are easy and quick to do by sending hair samples to Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (www.vgl.ucdavis.edu), and cost 50 US dollars each. The entry fee is a low as 100 Euro.
The Mario Palma Futurity will be held October 22-25 in Verolanuova, Italy. The Mario Palma Futurity is incorporated in a 4 AQHA show and runs parallel to the Italian ISSP Futurity.
To be eligible a horse must:
- be 3 year old registered American Quarter Horse
- test negative to HERDA, GBED, PSSM - no matter what bloodline
- test negative to HYPP - bloodlines tracing back to Impressive (where requested by AQHA rules)
