Europe has got another exciting show: the fourth Austrian Reining Futurity & Derby at Wiener Neustadt, Austria on September 1 –4, 2010. The NRHA approved event offers a total purse of $ 100,000 added money plus 50 per cent payback of entry fees. Besides the Futurity and Derby classes, there is an Ancillary show with $ 10,000 in the Open alone. The event takes place at the beautiful facility of Helmut and Dennis Schulz in Wiener Neustadt, about one driving hour south of Vienna. The facility is one of the finest and most renowned of Austria offering excellent conditions for reining. Here, the major Austrian reining shows are organized.
„We set the early September date for the Austrian Futurity in order to be well away from the Futurities of the other NRHA affiliates. We do not want to interfere with them. So, the Austria Futurity will be kind of a pre-Futurity to those that are coming later in the year,“ says Helmut Schulz, president of the Austrian Reining Horse Association ARHA and the man behind this Futurity.
The first Austrian Reining Futurity was organized in 2007. Since then, numbers of competitors have increased each year. This time, there should be another record number due to the purse of $ 100,000 – a new record purse for the Austrian Futurity as well as Austrian reining shows in general.
The Austrian Futurity & Derby is open to all horses. There are three levels in the Futurity for 3-year-old horses with $ 25,000 added in the Open (Level 4). In the Non Pro, there are two levels. The same applies to the Derby for 4-year-old horses with e.g. $ 12, 000 added in the Open (level 4). Besides, the Futurity shows, there are a number of Ancillary classes with a total purse of $ 20,000. Deadline for entries is June 30, 2010.
